ABOUTmeowdy!! this is a lil place to organize/list out our headmates for those curious, and also us to not worry about "losing track" of anyone too!-we first realized we were a system in August 2021. we have been in nearly constant, daily internal contact with various headmates since April 2018, but didn't recognize our trauma for what it was, and thought that the term "soulbond" fit our headmates best at the time, because we thought it was just us connecting with fictional characters on the outside to fill a hole, and nothing more. it took some years of realizing that some of these headmates traced back to childhood, and after discussing this with a fellow system, we felt safe and sure that we were a system as well!-there are currently 69 known headmates in the Zephyr System. headmates all have different origins, many if not most stem from trauma. we won't go into detail with that unless you ask and we are close, but for instance, before recognizing that we are a system we had severe struggles with the simple human need of giving love, and letting ourselves be loved, which having this internal family has helped immensely with. we are "unofficially diagnosed with DID" and "officially diagnosed with OSDD". our therapist who diagnosed us, as well as us, believe that DID should be seen as a spectrum. we cannot be legally/officially diagnosed with DID because of as of now, the DSM-V says you must have amnesia with switching, which we do not experience. but we do have a lot of memory issues in general, mainly short term memory struggles. so according to current medical terms we would have OSDD, but we prefer just simply saying that we are plural, or are a system.-we support endogenic systems. we are a traumagenic system, but there are many different reasons someone could have "headmates"; trauma can also be difficult to recognize and uncover. we feel that telling others that they are faking their experience is regressive, and fights against normalizing the experience of being plural.-and finally this lil tidbit: the body has been diagnosed with autism and anxiety. we believe all headmates are on the autism spectrum, but only a few would be individually diagnosed with our anxiety disorder if tested that way. collectively we are nonbinary, aromantic, and asexual. individually, all of us are asexual, most are nonbinary, and all are somewhere on an aromantic spectrum. some of us are in queer platonic relationships with each other as you may see. ;)
